Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the technical services unit to provide organization and enhanced bibliographic access to all library materials. This includes (but is not limited to): Monitors receipt and payment of all invoices to insure efficient payment and record keeping by establishing and maintaining accounts as well as furnishing information about purchases; Works closely with staff at USC Columbia to ensure excellence in online records; Responsible for review and development of the technical services unit policies, procedures, and attending professional development; Monitors library materials budget and makes regular reports to the Coordinator of Collection Management and the Dean of the Library; Maintains statistical data regarding collections growth, expenditures, withdrawals, etc.; Implements and adapts processes to accommodate rapidly changing technological environments and needs of our users; Assists in the professional development of other library faculty and staff; Supports role of the Public Services librarians them identify, select, and locate materials that best contribute to overall mission of the library; Is a member of the Library Management Team and the Electronic Resources Committee; Serves on library and university committees as needed; Supervises 5 full-time staff.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement, and active learning pedagogies, such as service-learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application; and experience with teaching online or hybrid courses. Required Education and Experience

Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited program; 2-3 years experience as a professional librarian in an academic library; Understanding of technical services operations and workflows including but not limited to cataloging, Library of Congress classification, periodicals management, binding, approval plans, direct orders, invoicing, and national standards and guidelines; Experience with providing and managing electronic resources.
Successful background check is required.
