Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina Beaufort invites applications for the position of founding Dean of USCB’s Beaufort Campus. The Dean is responsible for coordinating all operations, including site utilization, educational programs, community outreach, and service projects at the USCB Beaufort Campus. The Dean is the chief administrative officer of the Campus and reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (EVCAA). Serves a 12-month appointment and teaches a 2/2 load. The Dean coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day operation of the campus. Works with USCB administrators to maintain an appropriate educational environment for students, faculty and staff. Collaborates with USCB academic leadership to develop academic offerings. Collaborates with leadership in all areas of the university to ensure that campus goals are well defined and support the overall USCB mission. Ensures that classrooms and laboratories are appropriately equipped. Participates as a member of various USCB committees. Engages with community stakeholders. The Dean will be expected to play a role in recruiting. Teaches a 2/2 load in area of academic expertise. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Required Education and Experience

Earned doctorate/ terminal degree in related discipline from a regionally accredited
institution
• 5 years of higher education administration experience or equivalent executive
experience
• Ability to foster and maintain strong relationships in the community
• Experience in preparation and management of budgets
• Ability to critically analyze quantitative and qualitative data
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Collegial management style and proven ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in recruiting
• Experience in advancement/ fundraising
• Experience in project management
