Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervison, performs a wide variety of semi-routine and diversified duties including the daily handling of laboratory rodents to ensure the care and management of research animals for the Animal Resource Facility of the University of South Carolina and School of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

High school diploma.

Weekend and holiday work hours are required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer training and/or experience in animal care.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to handle and restrain a variety of animals. Must posses ability to learn about environmental and nutritional requirements for laboratory animals and successfully complete certification requirements. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
