The University of South Carolina Beaufort invites applications for a nine month tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor position in Health Promotion beginning January 2018.The successful candidate will have a Doctorate degree in health promotion, health education, public health or related health field, experience teaching at the undergraduate level and must be capable of teaching undergraduate courses including; Chronic Disease Risk Reduction, Health Inequities, Epidemiology, Research Methods and Health Behavior and Education.
The purpose of the Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Promotion is to broadly prepare students for the multidisciplinary field of practice that is concerned with designing, implementing and evaluating health interventions that enable individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities to play active roles in achieving, protecting and sustaining health. Students who graduate from the program will be equipped to perform a wide variety of critical health care functions. They will examine behavioral, environmental and social factors that enhance or compromise health. They will provide health promotion, disease prevention and advocacy to individual patients, groups and communities. They will recognize and address health disparities within selected high-risk populations. And they will plan, implement and evaluate health education programs for specific populations.

Required Education and Experience

Minimum requirements include a Doctorate degree in health promotion, health education, public health or related health field and experience teaching at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credentials preferred.
