Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Serves as the Director of Information Technology to include hands on management and support of voice, video, data, and multimedia technology for the USC Sumter Campus. Plans and directs the management of all technology/computer needs. Manages PC desktop support for students, faculty, and staff. Manages and provides technical support for the campus Local Area and Voice communication network and Server administration. Coordinates support for two-way video instruction, multi-media instruction, as well as repairs and service to computers, printers, fax machines and ID equipment. The employee reports directly to the dean and must be able to work professionally and independently as an effective team member with limited supervision. Employee must be willing to accept ownership of responsibilities and take the initiative to identify projects to include planning and oversight of those projects from start to finish.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 4 years experience in computer operations or a related data processing field; or equivalency

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of communication/information systems, network services, and telecommunications networks. Knowledge of computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging, maintenance techniques and practice and computer/printer hardware/software. Ability to analyze and solve complex problems. Ability to prepare technical and user-friendly reports in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of planning and budget management. Knowledge of network switches and routers.
