Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Functions in the capacity as an academic advisor, providing relevant counsel and guidance to HRSM undergraduate student population. Student counsel is inclusive of: academic and career pathways, study abroad, and leadership opportunities. Initiate approval process of required confidential electronic forms, and utilize numerous advising technologies that aid in proficiency of student counsel.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 1 year related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience utilizing advising technologies and resources including EAB Student Success Collaborative, Self-Service Carolina (Banner), scheduling software, Degree Works, and Bulletin.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience in student services, USC student records, or equivalency. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills. Extensive computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, database software, and coding systems used to collect and analyze data. Knowledge of advisement policies and procedures. Ability to provide student counseling; and ability to establish working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and general public.
