Work Schedule

The typical work week is Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm (9am-6pm) but may be adjusted according to the needs of the department. The position requires Sunday hours on a rotating basis. Position will typically work 40 hours per/week, however based on duties of position, individual may be called to assist with campus and individual crisis during evenings and weekends and during peak periods of high patient volume.

Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant will conduct triage and evaluation of patients with approved guidelines. Triage skills will involve both direct encounters and phone encounters. Thorough and reliable documentation of patient complaints, symptoms, pertinent history and vital signs are required. Preparation of patients for gynecologic encounters, examinations, treatments and procedures with attention to time management. Assists physicians and other providers in examinations, treatments and procedures. Processing of laboratory and tissue specimens with adherence to internal policies and procedures. Monitor inventories of approved educational material. Maintain inventories of medical supplies necessary for normal clinic operations. Participate in Quality Assurance initiatives regarding patient care. Provides administrative support for patient check-in and check-out procedures including operation of the appointment system when necessary. Offers student information regarding eligibility for services, Student Health Services fees, and available community resources.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Certified Medical Assistant from accredited training program at least 1 year in Women’s Health.

Must be able to obtain CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers) within the first 30 days of employment. Must have experience in administering injections.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical providers, colleagues and the concerned public. Knowledge of current women’s health practices. Knowledge of the procedures, equipment and techniques involved in women’s health care. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, hygiene, and chemistry. Knowledge of ethical issues of the professional practice of medicine. Knowledge of electronic medical records and appointment systems. Knowledge of community health resources. Ability to develop, implement and evaluate office procedures. Computer skills to include word processing, utilization of fax machine. Clinical skills to include utilization of autoclave.
