The typical work week is Monday thru Friday 8 am- 5pm (9 am-6 pm) but may be adjusted according to the needs of the department. The position requires Sunday hours on a rotating basis. Position will typically work 40 hours per/week, however based on duties of position, individual may be called to assist with campus and individual crisis during evenings and weekends and during peak periods of high patient volume.

Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

To perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the Laboratory Manager or designee . Administrative duties include: Processing specimens for reference laboratories Utilizing the Electronic Medical Record and Laboratory Information Systems Proper coding and interpretation of laboratory orders Managing work processes and patients arriving at the laboratory Clinical duties include: phlebotomy Collects and processes blood, urine, and other specimen types Proper labeling and handling of patient specimens Performing waived laboratory tests under supervision of Medical Technologist The typical work week is Monday thru Friday but may be adjusted according to the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Graduation from accredited training program and 1 year experience, or high school diploma and 3 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma and 5 years work experience in a clinical laboratory, in a health care setting.


Knowledge of laboratory facilities, methods, equipment and materials. Knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of blood and of human anatomy relating to blood vessels. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to perceive colors normally.
