The University of South Carolina Aiken invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Special Education, beginning January 1, 2018, or August 16, 2018. Candidates must be willing and able to teach in an online environment. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses based on candidate background that may include: Characteristics, methods, and assessment of Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, TBI, Severe Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and/or Behavior Management. Responsibilities also include teacher candidate supervision; academic advisement; ongoing university and community service; pursuit of grant opportunities; and sustained scholarly activity. Ability to teach ESOL courses desirable. Main responsibilities will be teaching online classes through Palmetto College – the University of South Carolina’s degree completion program – with potential for teaching face-to-face classes on the Aiken campus.

Required Education and Experience

Doctorate in education with emphasis in special education or closely related field and PK-12 teaching experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated effective teaching with diverse populations, collaborative and applied research in school settings, grant writing skills, and demonstrated or emerging record of professional publication preferred.
