In employment as a Student Custodial Housekeeping Technician, may be scheduled on a weekend and will normally work up to 20-25 hours per week, but may work more hours (up to 40) during summer months. Responsible for the preparation and beautification of classrooms, restrooms, lobbies, common areas, offices, as well as other surrounding areas of the USC Upstate campus. Under very limited supervision from the Custodial Services Supervisor or Superintendent of Custodial Services, will perform custodial and housekeeping duties for assigned buildings or specified areas.

Qualifications

- Students must have flexible scheduling and be willing to work 4-5 days per week (20-25 hours), including weekends.
- Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Students must exhibit large degree of flexibility: students will perform work in any and all buildings.
- Students must be able to pass any OSHA testing, video training testing and also any handout testing needed to perform this job. Students will also receive on the job training in housekeeping procedures.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions on product labels.
- Be physically able to perform custodial duties. Includes lifting 40 pounds, climbing ladders and stairs, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, twisting, walking, and extensive use of arms.
- Be exposed to dust, trash, blood-borne pathogens, strong chemical odors and refuse, and required to work with a number of potentially dangerous cleaning chemicals.
- Students will be required to wear (PPE) personal protective equipment at all times while on the job.
- Must be honest and trustworthy.
- Second shift hours. Must have flexibility to work weekends.
