Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Bioorganic Chemistry, with a start date of August 16, 2018.

Possible research areas could include but are not limited to chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, glycobiology, and combinatorial chemistry or molecular sensing applied to biological problems.

Candidates are expected to develop a cutting-edge, externally funded research program and have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in both organic chemistry and biochemistry.

Review of applications will begin October 2017 and end December 31, 2017.

Required Education and Experience

A Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Special consideration will be given to candidates who apply chemical synthesis, tools, and analyses to the study and manipulation of biological systems.
