Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics and Computational Science at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (www.uscb.edu/cs) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in 2018. Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate in Computer or Computational Science at the time of employment. Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computational Science, including, but not limited to, data analysis, modeling and simulation, and high performance computing. Preferred candidates would be able to broadly participate in multi-disciplinary research in the areas of materials science or engineering, statewide.
The expected teaching load in Computational Science is 9 credit hours per semester, and the new hires will receive substantial course releases from an NSF grant for the first two years. Besides teaching and research, responsibilities include professional and university service.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer school teaching is possible on an as needed basis.
